Program Details

Nia dance fitness classes are held at the Avalon Recreation Centre on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Nia is  blend of nine movement forms including dance, tai chi and yoga and the core philosophy is to encourage people to "feel better" when they exercise. There are two class types; Classic Nia is a jooyful cardio dance workout to music and Gentle Nia is rhythmic movement to music and can be done standing or seated. https://movetoheal.com.au/classes/

Nia allows you to move at your own pace. No-one is pushing you to work harder, improve performance or force any movement. The movements are simple and repetitive on purpose, designed to stimulate the brain, relax and condition the body and bring up feelings of pleasure, connection and joy.

Nia encourages a fun fitness practice that is good for mental health, brain health, flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability with regular practice.

All fitness levels and beginners are welcome.   Mandy is a trauma sensitve Nia teacher and offers a safe space for moving, self expression and connection to community.
