Program Details

This hour long class is designed to provide a whole body workout, with a particular emphasis on lower limb strength and balance training, in line with current research into falls prevention.

Each session includes a warm up, strength exercises using dumbbells and therabands, standing balance exercises and stretching. The class caters for a range of fitness levels and abilities. 

The instructor, Kate DeMayo, has worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor with older adults for over 10 years, and has instructed the "Next Steps" program through the Area Health Service.

Opening Hours:

Fridays, 10.30 - 11.30 in school terms

Cost:

$8 per class/visit

Target Age:

60 Plus

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

Participants need to be able to follow very basic movement patterns.

Special requirements or conditions:

Recommend closed shoes with good grip

Minimum Experience:

Beginner

Leader Qualifications

Fitness Leader - Cert III.

Fitness Leader - Cert IV

Fitness Leader - Registered
