Program details
VITALmoves is a fun and friendly low to moderate exercise group, that focuses on the fitness components of strength, cardiovascular and muscular endurance, flexibility, stability, and body composition. The low impact strength exercises also help to strengthen the muscles that support balance.
The program encourages clients to:
- Safely move through various ranges of motion, with and/or without the addition of light weights and resistance bands
- Mimic situations in real life, where they might find themselves quickly stepping backwards and trying to stop a fall
- Get up and down off the ground, where able
- Increase health of joints by strengthening the supporting muscles
- Increase postural awareness
- Strengthen core muscles and increase spine health
Some of the regular exercises include:
- Agility Ladder stepping in and out
- Box Step Ups and Step Downs
- Dumbbell Bicep Curls
- Weighted Farmers Carry
- Ball Bounces to partner, and ball games
- Single Leg Balance
- Heel Toe Walks
- Side Leg Raises
- Shoulder Mobility
- Standing and supported Hip Openers
- Air Boxing with optional light weights
- Pool Noodle single hand balance walk
