Program details

Make a Move is a 45 minute weekly seated community dance session appropriate for adults wishing to move from home via the Zoom paltform.

Aimed at maintaining mobility and improving health & wellbeing, Make a Move is infused with engaging and fun physical and cognitive activity that keeps the mind and body active. Both Seated and stabding supported movement is offered with options to stay seated if needed.

With regular participants attending for now 4 years, all ages of adults are welcome, particularly those who need to maintain joint and muscle gentle movement regularly.

Safe for all older adults and those with mobility restrictions, Parkinson's & Stroke this seated session will keep you coming back for more!

Jess is a highly experienced facilitator and leads many dance for health programs that are engaging, fun and accessible to all no matter your experience, skill or age!

* NOTE: You will need a laptop computer or Ipad to connect and an email address for the Zoom invite to be sent to you.

Opening hours:

Mondays 3.30 - 4.15pm

Not on public holidays or through the Xmas school holidays
* will be adding another class later in the week, which will be available when we have an interested group
* separate sessions also available for groups in community centres and aged care homes.

Target age:

50 Plus

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

- All participants should check with their GP or health professional that gentle exercise is ok for them to proceed. This is a safe session using the chair for both seated and standing options.
- Those with cognitive impairment would benefit from a carer or partner participating/ supervising with them whilst online. Accessible and adaptable movement.
- Appropriate for people living with PD, Stroke and mobility restrictions

Special requirements or conditions:

- Sturdy chair with flat seat needed (like a dining chair- no swivel office chairs please)
- Comfortable clothes, water nearby
- Soft shoes, non -slip socks or bare feet in summer if floor is appropriate.
- Enough room to move around your chair!
