This group is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Stepping On is and evidence Falls Prevention program for community dwelling older people. The program runs for 7 weeks, 2 hours a week. Stepping on consists of evidence based gentle exercises for leg strength and balance, interactive discussion with expert guest speakers regarding falls risk factors and what can be done to reduce these risk factors.
Who is the program for?
Stepping On is for older adults who:
- Are 65 years and over, or 45 years and over for Aboriginal adults
- Have had a recent fall or are fearful of falling
- Are living independently in the community (i.e. not in a nursing home)
- Are able to walk safely inside their home without a walking aid
What’s included in the program? The Stepping On program includes:
- Weekly, 2-hour group sessions
- Educational talks from experts
- Gentle group exercise to improve balance
- Weekly handouts and an exercise manual
Opening hours:
Mondays: 10:00am to 12:00pm
The Stepping On program commences 21 July 2025, for 7 weeks.

Target age:
50 Plus
Participants who would not be suitable for the program:
People who can not participate in a group eg due to dementia or cognitive decline or people who use a walking frame in their home.
People who do not live in the community eg who live in an aged care facility.
Special requirements or conditions:
This group is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Minimum experience:
Beginner
