Program details
Stable Foundations is a small-group exercise program designed to help mature adults improve balance, strength, coordination, and confidence in movement to reduce the risk of falls and support independence.
Led by university-qualified trainers, the program combines evidence-based balance and mobility training with functional strength exercises to improve stability, gait control, and posture.
Sessions incorporate Keiser pneumatic resistance machines, balance pads, step boxes, and resistance bands to safely strengthen key stabilising muscles and enhance coordination.
Each participant begins with a comprehensive balance and mobility assessment, including the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS) a validated clinical test used to measure postural stability and identify balance deficits. Assessment results are used to develop a tailored plan, ensuring each participant begins at an appropriate level and progresses safely over time.
Training is delivered in a purpose-built facility designed for mature adults, featuring safe flooring, open spaces, handrails, and easy-access equipment. All participants track progress through the Healthspan training app, which records attendance, exercise performance, and ongoing improvements.
Each class runs for 30 minutes, and participants attend one session per week to gradually improve stability, coordination, and confidence.
