Program details

Strong Bones is a professionally guided strength and mobility program designed to support bone density, lean muscle development, balance, and overall physical resilience for older female adults.

Whether you are looking to prevent osteoporosis, improve stability, reduce falls risk, or simply feel stronger in everyday life, this program is tailored to help you achieve your goals in a safe and supportive environment.

We are dedicated to providing evidence-based exercise programs that promote lifelong strength, confidence, and wellbeing.

Strong Bones is part of our commitment to keeping our community active, strong, and injury-free at every stage of life.

Each 60-minute class combines resistance training, balance work, mobility exercises, and functional movement to support healthy ageing and improve everyday strength and independence.

Programs are individually tailored to suit different fitness levels, abilities, and health conditions, making the classes suitable for both beginners and active older adults.

Classes are delivered in a welcoming small-group environment under the guidance of qualified health professionals, with exercise modifications and progressions provided to ensure participants feel safe, supported, and confident throughout their journey.

Opening hours:

  • In term dates, Mondays 12:00pm and Wednesdays 12:00pm.

Cost:

$240 per term (private health claimable).

Target age:

55 Plus

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

Strong Bones is designed for older adults across a range of fitness and mobility levels; however, participants are screened prior to commencing the program to ensure it is safe and appropriate for their individual needs.

Some participants may require individual assessment, medical clearance, one-on-one exercise intervention, or referral to a more suitable service before participating in a group setting. This may include individuals with:

Uncontrolled or unstable medical conditions
Recent surgery or acute injury where exercise restrictions remain in place
Severe balance impairment requiring constant physical assistance
Significant cognitive impairment or advanced dementia that may impact the ability to safely follow instructions within a group environment
Uncontrolled dizziness, fainting episodes or neurological conditions affecting safety
Severe mobility limitations preventing independent participation in basic functional movements
Individuals who are non-weight bearing or unable to safely mobilise within the class environment
Participants experiencing acute pain or conditions requiring further medical investigation
Individuals with complex falls risk requiring closer supervision than can be safely provided in a small group class

Participants who use walking aids are not automatically excluded and may still be appropriate for the program following assessment. Exercises can often be modified to accommodate varying mobility levels and confidence.

All participants complete a pre-screening and baseline assessment with a qualified health professional to determine suitability, identify risks and ensure the program can be appropriately tailored to support safe participation.

Special requirements or conditions:

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and supportive enclosed footwear suitable for exercise and balance-based activities. Participants should also bring a water bottle and towel to each session.

As classes may include floor-based mobility and strengthening exercises, participants should feel comfortable getting on and off the floor independently or with minimal assistance. Exercise mats and equipment are provided by The Physio Movement.

Participants are required to complete an initial pre-screening and assessment prior to commencing the program to ensure exercises can be safely tailored to their individual needs, medical history and mobility levels. Where required, medical clearance may be requested before participation.

Participants are encouraged to attend a minimum of two exercise sessions per week, including supervised classes and/or prescribed home exercises, to achieve the best strength, balance and falls prevention outcomes.
