Program details

Runners Strength is a professionally guided strength and conditioning program designed to help runners improve performance, build resilience and reduce injury risk.

Suitable for recreational runners through to competitive athletes, the program focuses on improving strength, mobility, balance, stability and running efficiency in a safe and supportive environment.

Each 60-minute class combines evidence-based strength training, mobility exercises, core work and running-specific conditioning targeting the key muscle groups used in running.

Exercises are individually modified and progressed to suit varying fitness levels, running experience, injury history and performance goals.

At The Physio Movement (TPM), we are passionate about helping people continue doing what they love through smarter movement and injury prevention.

Runners Strength is designed to support long-term running health, confidence and performance while creating a welcoming community environment for runners of all abilities.

Opening hours:

  • Mondays, 5:15pm to 6:15 pm
  • Thursday, 6:00am to 7:00am

Cost:

$15 or 10 pass for $135.

Target age:

50 Plus

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

Runners Strength is designed for independently mobile adults and runners who are able to safely participate in moderate to higher intensity strength and conditioning exercises. All participants complete a pre-screening and baseline assessment prior to commencing the program to ensure exercises can be appropriately tailored to their needs and abilities.

Some participants may require individual assessment, medical clearance, one-on-one intervention or referral to a more suitable service before participating in a group setting. This may include individuals with:

Recent surgery or acute injury where rehabilitation restrictions remain in place
Acute musculoskeletal injuries requiring more individualised rehabilitation
Uncontrolled cardiovascular, neurological or medical conditions
Significant balance or mobility impairments requiring constant physical assistance
Severe cognitive impairment impacting the ability to safely follow instructions within a group environment
Individuals who are unable to independently perform functional movements such as stepping, squatting or controlled floor transfers
Participants experiencing acute pain, dizziness or symptoms requiring further medical assessment
Individuals requiring walking aids for mobility during exercise participation

Participants returning from injury, surgery or periods of inactivity may still be suitable following assessment, with modifications provided where appropriate. The program is designed to challenge strength, balance and running-specific movement patterns safely while supporting long-term participation in running and physical activity.
